Why did we choose Houston Springs? We were looking for a home in a gated community that was far enough south to avoid extreme weather conditions, and small enough not to have traffic problems.

Originally from Connecticut, we had been living in Palm Coast, Florida, for the last ten years. We love touring on our motorcycle, but Florida had become so congested with traffic that riding was not as enjoyable as it had been. It was also difficult to leave home for extended periods because of all the upkeep the house and yard required.

We visited Houston Springs in January and took the tour. We loved it! We loved the largest model, “The Baypointe.” It has a spacious floorplan and the large garage was perfect as the golf cart bay also makes an excellent motorcycle bay! The price was wonderful, especially after Florida – we could afford the home and our recreational activities.

We didn’t want to wait to move to Perry, so we purchased a Baypointe spec home that was already underway - it seemed like fate was lending a hand to our move! We are now renting a home in Houston Springs while we wait for our own house to be finished.

The climate here is perfect. It is wonderful touring country, as we are only a mile from I-75, and Perry is a crossroads of several country highways that go through beautiful rolling hills. We can ride our motorcycles in Perry and Middle Georgia without worrying about the traffic congestion and traffic safety as we did in Florida, as the Palm Coast area is very congested. We also found the shopping and medical services to be very good. We have already found a doctor we really like and a great vet for our dog, Brandy.

We are really enjoying the lifestyle here. We have made friends quickly at all the social activities, including playing cards and the Red Hat Society! And we are looking forward to the community clubhouse completion so we can enjoy the swimming pool, tennis, and fitness room.

The best part is that the home is very low maintenance, and all the landscaping upkeep is included in our homeowners dues. This means that we can turn the key and take off at a moment’s notice to hit the open road!
